Our Mission

We’re on a mission to inspire the next generation
of scientists and space explorers.

Here’s our story…

In 2010, Unlimited Theatre’s artistic director J Spooner accidentally set up his own space agency. The Unlimited Space Agency (UNSA) started as a way to tell inspirational stories that would encourage children to study STEM subjects. UNSA’s early projects had award-winning success working with some of the world’s most prestigious science organisations including the Science Museum Group, Met Office, the Royal Observatory and the UK and European Space Agencies.

In 2017, we built a fully mobile replica of UNSA’s HQ (J’s garden shed) and toured it to festivals across the UK, sharing inspirational stories about science to more than 20,000 people. Our live audience since then has built significantly with more than 50,000 young people and their families experiencing The Space Shed live in 2019. In 2019, we also launched our podcast, Live from The Space Shed. Each episode shares conversations with the super cool scientists and climate experts that we’ve met while touring The Space Shed.

Oh and how have we not already mentioned, astronaut Tim Peake is UNSA’s Patron!!

In 2020, we continued to engage with the next generation of scientists and space explorers through The Astro Science Challenge: LIVE! This is our dedicated astronaut training programme aimed at Cadets aged 7-11. This space science adventure app sees young Cadets through 6 Missions designed in collaboration with the UK’s biggest and best science and space organisations, eventually training them to become fully-fledged Agents of UNSA.
